Multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) are multilayered capacitors composed of metal and ceramic layers. These capacitors have a low impedance value and operate at a high frequency.
This feature qualifies them for usage as noise suppressors in electrical equipment.
The increased demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors in high-end devices such as smartphones and tablets is expected to boost the market.
The rising popularity of electric cars (EVs) among the general public In addition, the increasing use of consumer electronics by consumers and companies is also producing a bright outlook for the industry.
The North America Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
TDK Corporation has announced the complete completion of an industry-first recycling system that reuses PET films used in the production process of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs)
Normally, the surfaces of waste PET films from the MLCC production process are carefully prepared and cannot be reused without extra processing. As a result, they are mostly thermally recycled or burned.
In comparison, the new TDK technology cleanses the surfaces of discarded PET films, converts them to PET plastic form (as a pellet), and then creates a film for PET filmmaker TORAY Corporation. The films are then purchased by TDK and undergo specific processing, allowing them to be reused in the production process.
When compared to regular PET film, the recycled PET film utilised in this system reduces CO2 emissions by around 10%.
TDK will first employ recycled PET films in MLCCs. When the system is expanded beyond MLCCs, TDK will boost the use of recycled PET films to 20%, substantially lowering waste and CO2.
In keeping with one of TDK's management challenges for generating societal progress that is sustainable.
