Depending on the flavor you select, Oat-based packaging adds a little something extra by including seeds for different vegetables. By just soaking the package in water for an hour and planting it in the ground, one may produce one’s own carrots, radishes, and other greens.
Since the packaging is compostable, this procedure produces no waste. Nowadays, many kids don’t understand where their food originates from. That shouldn’t come as a surprise given that we purchase everything from a supermarket where food is typically sold pre-packaged.
A fantastic approach to explain to your kids what food, and more importantly, what nutritious food is, is to grow one’s own food.
The Global Oat-based packaging Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
In Europe good percentage of the cereal that is produced is wasted, and standard packaging produces over million tonnes of plastic trash that is dumped in landfills annually. Investigating practical and environmentally friendly uses for both of these waste streams— Oat-based packaging—can help to reduce them.
In order to innovate in fiber packaging materials, the EU-funded FUNKY FIBRE project sought to extract essential fibers from oat waste. These fibers were then used to reinforce plastic packaging materials. This resulted in better, more environmentally friendly packaging materials.
Oat husks, a food by-product, were a new source exploited by project partners to produce MFC industrially. When the oat MFC was chemically altered utilizing eco-friendly methods, it became hydrophobized, which improved its compatibility with hydrophobic polymer matrices.
Two different traditional plastic packaging styles were created and characterized by project participants, and it was then determined which of these would be best suitable for the FUNKY fibers intended use.
In comparison to the conventional polymer matrix, the end result was packaging with superior mechanical, thermal, and barrier qualities. FUNKY FIBRE will encourage the purchase of items packaged in a more sustainable and ecologically friendly manner by increasing consumer knowledge of these issues.
The Oat-based packaging industries will see economic effects from this move away from traditional practices, but it will also—and more importantly—help to mitigate negative environmental effects.
