Devices with active power factor correction (PFC) for driving LEDs from a universal input range of 90 VAC to 265 VAC are part of the offline LED driver portfolio.
The global offline LED driver market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
For LED lighting and lighting equipment, Toshiba has developed an AC/DC offline LED controller IC using a single PFC*1 converter. The samples are currently accessible, and the business will begin commercialization. The new product, an isolated flyback LED power controller, was created to satisfy stringent design requirements.
These requirements included triac dimming support, high PFC and fewer external parts by achieving active PFC with a single converter, and no use of opto-couplers or detectors for average LED current control of the second side of the transformer.
With a normal 120-220V AC supply, the power factor value (PF) is greater than 0.8-0.9, and the accuracy of the LED output current is +/-5%.Incandescent lighting is being replaced by LED lighting, which uses less energy and has a longer lifespan.
Toshiba is working on devices that control LEDs with more power, support dimming, have a higher PF, and have higher efficiency and more precise output current.
Two highly integrated, phase-dimmable AC/DC offline LED lighting drivers, the LM3448 and TPS92070, were released by Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) for use in solid state lighting fixtures for residential, architectural, commercial, and industrial purposes, including retrofit bulbs, LED ballasts, downlights, spot lights, and other luminaires.
A 600-V MOSFET is integrated into the National LM3448 adaptive, constant-off time AC/DC constant current LED regulator, which is designed for 2-W to 8-W dimmable LED lighting drivers. The TPS92070 flyback AC/DC constant current LED driver controller is designed for dimmable LED lighting drivers with a power range of 6 to 20 watts.
Thermal shutdown, VCC under-voltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle peak current restriction, and LED open protection are all features shared by both models.
