Parallel ATA (Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment or PATA) is a standard for attaching hard drives to computer systems. PATA, as the name suggests, is based on parallel signalling technology, as opposed to serial ATA (SATA) devices, which employ serial signalling technology.
One of the drawbacks of PATA cable is its size. When the cable is installed on other equipment, it makes cable bundling and administration more complex. Similarly, large PATA cables make it tougher to cool computer components since airflow must bypass larger connections.
They can hold up to 80GB of data and transfer it at speeds of up to 133 MB/s. They were dubbed Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment because they link to the computer via a parallel ATA interface.
The Global PATA SSD market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Transcend Information, Inc., a global leader in storage and multimedia technologies, today unveiled the PSD320 2.5” parallel ATA (PATA/IDE) SSD, the latest addition to its entire line-up of solid state drives (SSDs).
The PSD320 is a value-priced solution that allows older systems to upgrade to the greater performance and reliability benefits of solid-state technology. It is designed to replace standard 2.5” 44-pin PATA hard disc drives. The PSD320 greatly increases the performance of outdated equipment without the high cost of replacing the complete machine, with sequential read and write transfer speeds of 104 MB/s and 93 MB/s, respectively.
To provide installation freedom for all types of legacy equipment designed around the 2.5″ PATA storage device standard, the PSD320 SSD fully supports PATA, Ultra DMA modes 0-6, PIO modes 0-4, and multi-word DMA modes 0-2.
Despite the fact that the 2.5″ form factor is generally associated with notebook storage, the PSD320 is also suited for use in POS machines, factory automation computers, medical equipment, and engineering machines.
Transcend’s 2.5” PATA SSD features high-quality MLC Flash chips in a durable yet lightweight outer shell, as well as large capacities of up to 128 GB. With no moving parts, the PSD320 not only delivers remarkable shock and vibration resistance, but also significantly lower power consumption as compared to typical rotating hard drives.
