As part of Mars Petcare's efforts to provide pet parents with more sustainable options, leading cat food brand SHEBA will be the first to offer the new packaging styles in Europe.

 

The action is part of a partnership between Mars Petcare and SABIC, Huhtamaki, and other companies to produce and use recovered plastic in pet food pouches using cutting-edge recycling methods (sometimes known as "chemical recycling").

 

This innovation was only made possible by highly developed recycled materials and their capacity to be food safe. It is a fantastic illustration of how this technology is crucial to help narrow the gap in enabling plastic waste to become completely circular.

With Huhtamaki's technical competence in designing and creating easy tear sterilizable polypropylene films such as Terolen, SABIC's TRUCIRCLE polymers can be used in wet pet food packaging such as the newly introduced SHEBA pouch.
