As the need for ecologically acceptable, sustainable, and biodegradable composites grows, natural and plant-based materials are being created in their place. This need results from rising environmental awareness, legislation, and requirements as well as from the understanding that resource-intensive manufacturing and construction activities will devastate the stable ecosystems that support human civilization on Earth.
In the larger composites business, natural fibres are already widely used. In several instances, they have proven to have good physicochemical and mechanical qualities.
The Global Plant-Based Composites market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Launch of Eco Fuse Plant-Based Nonwovens by Roswell TextilesThe USDA's BioPreferred Programme has recognised biopolymer-based meltblown as being 100% biobased. Roswell Textiles announced the full commercial launch of Eco Fuse, a line of plant-based, low-carbon nonwovens that can offset carbon emissions and are meant to take the role of synthetic nonwovens with more environmentally sound substitutes.
During the Covid-19 epidemic, Roswell Textiles created, commercialised, and produced Canada's first domestic supply of synthetic meltblown. By designing and building its own nonwoven production equipment in-house, Roswell Textiles was able to expand production fast and effectively. In just two months, the company made its first commercial sale of meltblown material made in Canada.
Building on this creative attitude, Roswell Textiles unveiled Eco Fuse, the name of its newest line of advanced nonwoven materials with outstanding performance. Ecofuse nonwoven fabrics are made of biopolymers and are derived from plants. Similar in technological terms to synthetic polypropylene materials, these highly designed materials have a net carbon reduction of 65%. Due to their plant-based origins, eco fused materials support a more sustainable and circular economy.
Roswell Textile's clients and strategic partners employ eco fused materials to reduce the carbon footprint of their goods. With additional commercialization procedures for the use of Ecofuse materials in hygiene, food and beverage packaging, as well as construction materials, the Eco Fused materials are already commercial in medical, water, and residential filtering applications.
The United States Department of Agriculture BioPreferred Programme has approved Ecofuse meltblown materials to be 100% biobased. These materials are currently used commercially in regulated medical applications.
