A GCS may be used to upload new mission instructions and set settings while a UAV is in flight. It is frequently used to see the real-time video feeds coming from a UAV’s cameras.
The portable Ground Control Station (GCS) is a versatile and all-purpose tool for managing payloads and unmanned vehicles.
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ground control station (GCS) is a land- or sea-based control centre that offers the infrastructure for human control (UAVs or “drones”).
However, this is commonly referred to as a Mission Control Center. It may also apply to a system for managing rockets inside or above the atmosphere.
Through data linkages and communications technologies, the Ground Control Station (GCS) coordinates mission planning, platform communications, and payload or usable load control operations with the aerial platform and its internal systems.
There are even larger GCS units available, which usually fit within flight cases.
They have a built-in computer running the GCS software, along with video and data interfaces, just like the smaller devices.
Large single or dual displays are also installed, and these screens can be made to be highly bright or coated with anti-glare material to improve vision in direct sunlight. They may be set up on the floor, on a transportable table, or with built-in foldable legs.
The HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) arrangement is used on several portable GCS devices. A 3-Axis Joystick is part of this design, and it allows you to steer the UAV’s yaw, pitch, and roll.
The UAV’s airspeed may be altered using a slide or t-bar fader.
The Global Portable ground control station market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
UAVOS Unveils New Portable Ground Control Station for UAVs.
Unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer UAVOS has introduced the PGCS 3, a new portable ground control station for UAVs. A Getac X500 laptop with a military-grade robust design houses the essential system setup functions and an ergonomic control panel.
The PGCS 3 is a very adaptable system that can be combined with a wide range of various 15″ laptop computer types.
The PGCS 3 comprises of a console with extra controllers and a detachable computer. The UAV autopilot from UAVOS is completely compatible with the system.
The pushbuttons, switches, and joysticks on the console are commercially waterproof devices. For docking the laptop, the panel has a quick-release mechanism.
The PGCS 3 may be used as a simulator in addition to being built to watch, manage, and show live video streaming from UAVs. The station is made to operate concurrently with an aeroplane hauling a payload.
Without utilising an external antenna, the system’s built-in digital modem controls the UAV. The PGCS 3 can now operate off of a variety of power sources and charge the docked computer thanks to a switching and power supply board created by UAVOS.
Size-wise, the PGCS 3 is small (length: 25.8 in (656 mm), width: 13 in (332 mm), and height: 5 in (128 mm). The Getac X500 weights 12lb, whereas the console weighs 8.6lb (3.9kg) (5.5kg).
The console casing, which is built of an aluminium alloy, shields it from dust and moisture.
