Global Radiation Inspection System Market 2024-2030

Last Updated:  Apr 25, 2025 | Study Period: 2024-2030

RADIATION INSPECTION SYSTEM MARKET

INTRODUCTION TORADIATION INSPECTION SYSTEM MARKET

The Radiological Detection System (RDS) is designed to replace the legacy Radiation Detection, Indication, and Computation (RADIAC) survey metres used by the Department of Defense (PDR-77, MFR Suite and ADM-300). RDS will enable warfighters to detect alpha, beta, gamma, neutron, and low-energy X-rays.

Personal radiation monitoring is used to monitor the external radiation dose received by the radiation worker. There are both instantaneous and passive monitors available, and each has advantages. Instantaneous dose-metres provide the wearer with a live radiation dose-rate (Sv/h) or cumulative dose (Sv).

When radiation enters a detector, it causes ionisation of gas atoms, separating them into positive ions and electrons. Separated electrons and positive ions are drawn to the electrodes, causing a current to flow. This is converted into electric signals, which are then measured as the amount of radiation.

RADIATION INSPECTION SYSTEM MARKETNEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Bertin introduces the new SaphyGATE G radiation portal monitors for vehicles and loads. Bertin Technologies, a subsidiary of the CNIM Group, has announced the release of its new SaphyGATE G radiation portal monitors.

The first portal monitors in this class automatically detect the potential radioactivity of vehicles, such as trucks and trains, and their loads.

These devices, designed to control radiation hazards on industrial and civil sites, provide excellent measuring capabilities and meet the requirements of the IEC 62022 international standard, one of the most stringent in the field.

It is not uncommon to find radioactive sources in freight vehicles. Some accidents involving radioactive material flow management have recently been reported worldwide, resulting in the spread of nuclear material, sometimes in manufactured products.

These accidents have serious economic, environmental, and human consequences, including several deaths.

Bertin teams in France, Italy, and Germany designed the new SaphyGATE G50 and G100 portal monitors, which include high-performance detectors. Vehicles are checked as they pass between detectors installed in pillars.

The readings from the detectors are analysed in real time by the control station's processing system. Bertin Technologies developed an innovative algorithm to compensate for radioactive background attenuation caused by the vehicle driving through in order to obtain the most accurate readings possible.
