An electric motor that goes back and forth rather than in circles is referred to as a reciprocating electric motor. Early electric motors occasionally used a reciprocating design.
Reciprocal electric motors are uncommon, but they do have a few specialised uses, such as in linear cryogenic compressors and instructional toys.
An alternating magnetic field is used in a reciprocating electric motor instead of a circular one to drive the armature back and forth. One field coil may be employed at either end of the armature's potential range of motion, or two field coils may be used.
The global reciprocal motor market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
The United States DRIVE Partnership. The U.S. Department of Energy, USCAR, which represents FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors, five energy companies - BP America, Chevron Corporation, Phillips 66 Company, ExxonMobil Corporation, and
Shell Oil Products US, two utilities - Southern California Edison and DTE Energy, and the Electric Power Research Institute have joined forces to form U.S. DRIVE (Driving Research and Innovation for Vehicle efficiency and Energy sustainability) (EPRI).
Two distinct technical guidance documents, one for power electronics and one for electric motors, are included in the roadmap. These documents were driven by the OEMs and approved by the suppliers.
Conducting R&D with industry involvement with the goal of making a big technological push is the chosen strategy to get past the obstacles in the way and meet the technical goals.
