The action of oxidizers and reducers in an aqueous solution is measured by an Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) Sensor housing . It is a potentiometric measurement made with a two-electrode pH sensor-like device. It is also referred to as a redox test on occasion. An ORP sensor housing counts the proportion of oxidized to reduced forms of all chemical species in solution, in contrast to a pH sensor.
The ORP sensor consists of two electrochemical half cells with Pt as the detection electrode and Ag/AgCl as the reference electrode. The Nernst equation can be used to explain the potential difference between the two electrodes, which reflects the redox potential of the solution being measured.
A potentiometric titration is a typical application for an ORP sensor in teaching. A titrant is gradually added to a sample until all of the sample has reacted and the end-point is achieved, much like an acid-base titration.
Students can use a Vernier Go Direct ORP Sensor to measure the percentage of H2O2 by titrating the solution with KMnO4 as an illustration of how to put their knowledge of redox into practice. The balanced redox reaction between KMnO4 and H2O2 must be understood by students in order to calculate the concentration accurately.
The Global ORP Sensor Housing Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
The circuits are housed in a tough CPVC housing in the modular WEL Series. Cartridges for pH and ORP sensors housing can be quickly and simply connected or replaced without the use of tools. The cartridges have a special threaded interlock link that ensures a watertight fit and safe seating at all times, along with a double O-ring seal.
When an electrode needs to be replaced, the housing still contains the temperature adjustment element and optional differential preamplifier or 4 to 20 mA transmitter.
The electrode is always preamplifier and has no batteries to run out because it is powered by the controller it is attached to. The differential measuring method is made possible by an integrated titanium solution ground rod in the housing. This causes extended electrode time.
