A skidder is any kind of large, massive machine used in logging operations to move logs from the location of cutting to a landing by "skidding," or pulling downed trees out of a forest.
There, they are put on trucks (or, in the past, train cars or flumes) and transported to the mill. The wood is grabbed and lifted by skidders using a loader crane boom with a hydraulic grapple bucket.
The crane has the ideal geometry on each machine, making it appropriate for a variety of individual requirements.
The Global Skidder Cranes Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
A new 635H Swing Boom Skidder Crane was launched by Tigercat. With the integration of a Tigercat designed and built swing boom system first debuted on the 635G series skidder, the six-wheel drive 635H's abilities in steep terrain and cable assist applications have advanced to a new level.
Productivity is increased in applications where skidder travel is constrained or limited by the characteristics of the terrain by the extra working envelope and the ability to place the grapple well outside of the machine's working track.
The Tigercat Turnaround 220° seat is a significant benefit for swing boom skidding applications because it can be locked in place and operated from any position with complete drive controls.
In order to align the operator's field of vision with the grapple's working area, the seat can be adjusted to face in any direction backward. With components found in all Tigercat track machines, the slew system at the foot of the boom has been field-tested.
The boom has a larger lifting capability in comparison to a traditional dual function arch, in addition to having a larger working envelope.
Through-the-blade cable routing and frame lugs that are strategically placed allow the skidder to be factory-equipped for tethering for cable assisted uses. Closer to the cargo, the lugs are secured to the frame's supporting members behind the front axle.
