HVAC is an abbreviation for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. HVAC systems are used to move air between interior and outdoor spaces, as well as to heat and cool both residential and commercial buildings.
They are the systems that keep you warm and comfortable in the winter and cool and refreshing in the summer. They are also the systems that filter and clean indoor air to keep you healthy and maintain ideal humidity levels.
The South Africa HVAC Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
A new learnership programme for the development of HVAC skills has been launched. Due to a shortage of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) capabilities in the South African market, Johnson Controls has launched a human capacity development and empowerment programme through a local learnership effort.
The curriculum focuses on the development of technical skills in the sector. With its first intake, the company boarded a total of 25 learners.
The learnership provides an opportunity for young people in South Africa’s poor communities to develop HVAC skills, which enhances the industry’s skill pool and fosters diversity.
The curriculum includes modules on oral communication, information interpretation from text, shape and dimensional space analysis, mathematical investigation and financial aspect monitoring, project initiation and management, administration processes, and project documentation management, to name a few.
It consists of a theoretical and practical component in which each learner is paired with a mentor – dubbed the ‘buddy system’. The learners obtain certification in the final month of the learnership programme.
