Energy Absolute (EA), a company created by Thai energy tycoon Somphote Ahunai, has begun researching the recycling of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.
Engineers from Chulalongkorn University will collaborate on the three-year project, which is intended to give EA in-depth battery recycling technology before the business moves on with the next stage of its EV battery manufacturing development.
One gigawatt-hour of lithium-ion battery manufacture will be able to be done annually at the plant in Chachoengsao owned by EA's local subsidiary Amita Technology Thailand. EA intends to greatly increase local production capacity in order to significantly lower the price of electric vehicles in the nation. The business has also made investments in Thailand's extensive network of charging stations.
Construction and operation of four additional lithium-ion battery recycling plants with a combined annual capacity of more than 30,000 tons are planned by recycling technology business ACE Green Recycling (ACE).
The four locations will target underdeveloped recycling markets and provide local markets with a carbon-neutral, emissions-free recycling solution to aid in the widespread use of lithium-ion batteries.
Most portable electronic gadgets and electric vehicles (EVs) in use today use lithium-ion batteries, which may also be used as grid energy storage options. ACE is actively developing facilities in the USA, Thailand, and India.
