The advantages of using an ultrasonic probe on a REVO system are as follows, according to Dave Joynson, Renishaw's product manager for the RUP1 probe: "Unlike many other ultrasonic systems, the RUP1 ultrasonic probe does not require the use of water tanks or coupling gel to enable a good transmission of the signal.

 

Instead, it makes great connection between the probe and the substance possible by using a cutting-edge elastomer tip ball.

 

Because immersion tanks and deep hole CMMs are not needed, the RUP1 probe frees up space on the shop floor and eliminates the requirement for expert operators to interpret oscilloscope screens.
