UV Dry-Offset printing, also known as waterless printing, is a technique where the relief surface of the photopolymer transfers the ink on a blanket to a substrate, such as polypropylene containers, and then the image that was previously printed on the blanket to the substrate. When using UV printing, specific inks are used, which are designed to dry and cure when exposed to ultraviolet light sources inside the press.
Due to the almost complete absence of dry back, UV inks can be bolder and more brilliant than traditional offset inks. Offset printing presses, like those used to create letterpress or lithographic prints, need a particular kind of ink called offset ink in conjunction with them. To withstand additional chemicals it would encounter on the printing press, such ink needs to be specifically designed.
The Global UV offset inks market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Siegwart introduces UV offset inks for non-food paper and board with a high bio-renewable component. For use on non-food paper and board, Siegwart is introducing a UV offset ink series with a high bio-renewable content. In place of conventional UV inks, the new Sicora Letho Pack Eco line offers environmental sustainability.
The formulation of the series contains four times as much bio-renewable content as the typical standard UV ink, or more than 40%, of renewable and vegetable-based components. As well as being free of TMPTA, Benzophenone, and CMR CAT. 1 and CMR. 2 components, the series is also CMR CAT. It is a line of low-odor inks especially made for various papers and boards.
The series, according to Siegwart, exhibits outstanding ink performance and strong color strength. The new UV offset range delivers great dot gain sharpness, outstanding flowability, a very stable ink and water balance even during extended runs, and exceptional film flexibility for post-processing.
Four-color process inks in accordance with ISO, Pantone colors, base inks, special colors and flex OPV are all included in the product line. By promoting the development of circular packaging using cutting-edge and environmentally friendly inks and coatings, Secure Letho Pack Eco fulfils their promise to further the transition to a circular economy.
