INTRODUCTION
A video router, also known as a video matrix switch or SDI router, is an electronic switch designed to route video signals from multiple input sources such as cameras, VT/DDR, computers and DVD players, to one or more display devices, such as monitors, projectors, and TVs.
The signal format that the router transports can be anything from analoguecomposite videousingPALandNTSC. Also multi-format routers can route more than oneDigital videosignal format,Serial Digital Interface(SDI),HD-SDI,component video.
Some routers have the ability to internally convert digital to analog and analog to digital. For HD Video, HDMI Matrix switch can be used to switch anyHDMIsource to any connected HDTV using a HDMI connection.
More recent developments have allowed audio embedding and de-embedding within the router, this allows for audio to be routed along with video.Because any of the sources can be routed to any destination, the internal arrangement of the router is arranged as a number of crosspoints which can be activated to pass the corresponding source signal to the desired destination.
This architecture has guaranteed bandwidth and is non-blocking.Crosspoints can also be switched in thevertical intervalto avoid losing picture information, for this the router would need to begenlockedto eitherblack and burstortri-level sync.
GLOBAL VIDEO ROUTER MARKET SIZE AND FORECAST
The Global Video Router Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH
Ultrix FR12 Router - The FR12 is as attractive as it is clever, with its appealing smart door thatâs an LCD display designed to help you with monitoring your system, troubleshooting, configuring, and control via a high-resolution, full-size touchscreen panel.
The FR12 is powerful too, boasting up to 288 x 288 SDI ports with a 6144 x 6144 TDM audio fabric, up to 288 frame syncs, 288 clean quiet switches and up to 48 x 100 PIP multiviewers.
It also has up to 8 SDPE blades that can be configured as a single 8ME Ross Acuity switcher, 8 independent Ross Carbonites or even a 4ME Acuity and 4 independent Carbonites. In short, the routing, processing, and switching capability in the FR12 is very hard to beat.
Many types ofbroadcast automationsystems can be used to control a video router viaIPorserial communicationssuch asRS-422. Video routers can also be controlled by other types of user interfaces, including front panel buttons, IR remote control, or application software running on a PC.
