YEMEN AUTOMOTIVE LOGISTICS MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Oman's Salalah Port launches a new corridor to transport Chinese goods to Yemen via Al Mazyuna Free Zone. The new offering, which goes beyond the Port and includes obtaining customs clearances and bonded trucking services to Salalah and Al Mazyunah free zone hubs under carrier haulage, is intended to assist interior services. The new service shortens lead times and opens up new markets. In line with the Oman Vision, it also seeks to assist the expansion of SMEs in Oman and Yemen and draw in new investors.

The initial trial shipment from China delivered to Mazyouna FZ has recently been completed by the Port of Salalah and Maersk. The concerned consignment was loaded in the Chinese port of Ningbo, and it took 25 days to travel from there to Mazyouna. Due to this, Salalah is the ideal gateway for Yemen, as a large portion of it would otherwise be unloaded in nearby ports and transported across the border via Oman.

Yemen importers will benefit from reduced prices and transit times because of this new route. Maersk has reaffirmed its commitment to building the necessary capacity, connections, and contracts to grow this up, helping Oman's regional businesses in the process.

With the present project, in collaboration with Maersk, the Port of Salalah facilitates the securing of Salalah as a gateway to Yemen and provides seamless cargo transportation where the client receives single window service up until the ultimate delivery site. The client will benefit from enhanced efficiency, and this may also help to avoid unforeseen expenses like queue demurrage and port storage, to name just two.
