Zero-Voltage-Switching Power-Supply ICs Feature Programmability, High Efficiency, and Small Form Factor. Power Integrations announced the InnoSwitch 4-Pro family of digitally controllable, off-line CV/CC Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) flyback ICs, which substantially reduce the size of power adapters.
ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) means switching the 110/230VAC output when the immediate voltage is zero. ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) is easier to implement than ZCS (Zero Current Switching).
ZVS is a good solution for switching on/off devices such as switching power supplies. One solution enabling a return to faster switching frequency at higher input voltage and voltage drop is Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS).
This technique, like virtually all contemporary switching voltage regulators, uses pulse width modulation (PWM)-based operation, but with an additional separate phase to the PWM timing to allow for ZVS operation.
ZVS enables the voltage regulator to engage âsoft switchingâ, avoiding the switching losses that are typically incurred during conventional PWM operation and timing.
Global ZVS power supply ICs market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
The InnoSwitch4-Pro family of digitally controllable, off-line CV/CC Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) flyback ICs was introduced by Power Integrations Inc of San Jose, CA, USA, which manufactures high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion and significantly reduces the size of power adapters.
The highly integrated devices lower the component count and PCB area needed for ultra-compact adapters for cellphone, notebook, tablet, and multi-port accessories by including a PowiGaN gallium nitride primary switch and steady-state switching frequency of up to 140kHz.
InnoSwitch4-Pro ICs have a 750V PowiGaN main switch, a controller, a FluxLink reinforced isolation feedback connection for secondary-side control, an I2C interface, an active clamp drive, and synchronous rectification, and they can supply up to 220W.
They are housed in a small InSOP-28 package. The extensive integration makes it easier to build and produce fully programmable, extremely efficient power supply.
These programmable flyback ICs enable the ultra-compact and slender form factors that are greatly demanded by both OEM accessory and aftermarket USB PD and Universal Fast Charging Specification (UFCS) adapters.
They work in conjunction with the companion products ClampZero and MinE-CAP. The China Communications Standards Association has unveiled a new standard called UFCS.
