RFID (radio frequency identification) is a type of wireless communication in which electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency section of the electromagnetic spectrum is used to uniquely identify an object, animal, or human.
RFID technology differs from NFC (Near Field Communication) and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology in that it spans a shorter distance and can connect with devices that are positioned within a certain range.
RFID devices have a wide range of applications in India because of their enhanced reliability and performance. Expanded read ranges, data storage capacity, form factors, and interaction with other technologies have greatly increased the RFID industry’s applicability and, as a result, revenue growth.
This sector has attracted a huge number of participants due to its low entry barriers and substantial profitability.
The INDIA RFID MARKET accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
TSC Printronix Auto ID has released the Alpha-40L RFID, its first direct thermal mobile RFID printer.
The Alpha-40L RFID may be used to print and code RFID tags and labels. Its versatility and battery capacity make it ideal for long-shift asset tagging and labelling in transportation and logistics, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, construction, and food and beverage.
This innovative direct thermal mobile printer can print 1D and 2D codes as well as regular labels, making it a flexible addition to any fleet. The Alpha-40L RFID offers a print width of up to 104mm (4.09in), a print resolution of 203dpi, and a print speed of up to 127mm per second (5ips).
The RFID Alpha-40L weights 1,025 grammes (including battery). It can withstand falls of 1.8 metres without being damaged. Tests have also revealed that the mobile printer, which is certified as IP54, is resistant to dust and water without the use of an extra cover.
Users may, however, choose a protective cover for tougher situations such as outdoors, allowing the gadget to resist falls of up to 2.5 metres. Its design complies with MIL-STD-810G military specifications for fall and vehicle vibrations.
The pilot phase of the e-Samrudha project’s RFID-based livestock traceability and e-health management system will be launched by the minister of animal husbandry in the Omalloor panchayat of Pathanamthitta. The Animal Husbandry department’s e-Samrudha IT project aims to digitise the department’s operations and offerings. The agency wants to gather information on dairy farmers and cattle through the RFID initiative.
On the base of the cattle’s ears, injectable RFID tags are attached as part of this study. The advantages include the development of a computerised veterinary database, traceability of animals, enhanced provision of veterinary services, and disease management. The organisation in charge of carrying out this initiative is Digital University Kerala. The Digital University Kerala’s Centre for Digital Innovations and Project Development created the RFID traceability technology.
