The chemical element gadolinium has an atomic number of 64 and the symbol Gd. When the oxidation is eliminated, gadolinium is a silvery-white metal. It is a ductile rare-earth element that is only marginally bendable. Gadolinium slowly reacts with oxygen from the air or moisture to generate a black covering.
The Gadolinium Substituted Magnets Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Synthesis and magnetic properties of gadolinium substituted zinc ferrites.Zinc ferrite nanoparticles with gadolinium doping were created using the common co-precipitation technique.
To produce crystalline composites, the samples were heated to 1200 °C. Depending on the amount of iron present, the precursor solution’s gadolinium content was adjusted from 10 to 40%. Through the use of a scanning electron microscope, it was determined that the particles had an average particle size of 100 nm.
By increasing the concentration of gadolinium from 10% to 40%, X-ray diffraction examination showed a considerable change in the crystal structure from cubic spinel to orthorhombic. Orthorhombic and cubic spinel gadolinium zinc iron oxides were found to form mixed phases.
With increasing gadolinium doping, the samples’ ferromagnetic characteristics deteriorated until they reached an antiferromagnetic state at 40% gadolinium concentration. For samples with 20 and 30% gadolinium doping, magnetic hyperthermia investigations verified a high heating rate, suggesting their potential utility in cancer therapy.
