One class of optical measuring device is the profile projector (also known as an optical comparator). Optical microscopes’ measurement principles are comparable. On the stage, the target is positioned, and it is illuminated from below. As a result, the target’s shadow or profile is projected onto the screen.
On a profile projector, imperfections on parts like burrs, scratches, and indentations can be seen. Since no contact is necessary for measurements, delicate objects that can deform when touched can be easily measured using a profile projector.
The profile projector is therefore frequently used in the production of precision machinery, especially in the fields of aviation, aerospace, watches, clocks, electronics, instruments, research institutes, and detection metering stations at all levels, among others.
Separately calibrate the X and Y axes by taking a test point around every 25 mm or 1 inch on a glass scale that spans the profile projector’s measurement range. The glass scale needs to be roughly in the middle of the measuring stage.
Global profile projector market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
A new and updated version of the well-known bench-mounted Baty R400 profile projector, with high accuracy non-contact measurement and thorough inspection, has been released by Bowers Group. Its sturdy construction makes it perfect for both the shop floor and the quality room, and many in the industrial and engineering sectors have found this to be quite appealing.
The updated model comes with a number of enhancements, such as beneficial changes to the lighting setup and focal length that make it the perfect tool for a variety of parts.
The addition of an LED lighting system to the current R400 model is among its most stunning updates. The new system replaces the current Halogen profile lighting, bringing downtime from failed lamps to a minimum and lowering annual servicing expenses.
The LED system works at substantially lower temperatures than the conventional halogen arrangement and yet includes helix adjustment for thread measurement.
The screen-mounted optical edge sensor on the new model is fixedly attached on an arm, allowing the screen to be turned independently of the probe while keeping the crosshair/probe offset data that is saved in the FT2-E software.
