Avocado halves with skin and stone removed are included in each pack, which can be stored in a refrigerator for a month because of High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology.
Food spoilage or disease-causing microorganisms are eliminated by HPP, a non-thermal food preservation method, as stated by the European Food Safety Authority. “It has little impact on taste, texture, appearance, or nutritional value and employs high pressure for a specific period of time.” Targeting both the retail and foodservice industries, the Naked Avocado is produced in France.
The design of the packaging allows for the individual removal of each half of an avocado, maximising the shelf life of the remaining fruit.Halls also mentioned that because of prior negative experiences, “an untold number” of prospective customers are deterred from ever buying avocados. All of this adds to the global food waste crisis that the UN has called attention to.
