Due to a carefully modified surface treatment (on one side), this 12 micron Bi-axially Oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate (BOPET) film provides an extremely high barrier to oxygen. Depending on the needs of the convertor, the other side of the film may be corona-treated or left untreated.
This film’s oxygen transmission rate (O.T.R.) at 23 degrees Celsius and 0% RH is approximately 6 cm3/m2/day. This film’s ability to increase barrier characteristics without the need for coating or co-extrusion with polyvinylidene chloride (PVC) or ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) is a significant advantage. The O.T.R. of a 12 micron untreated BOPET normal film can reach 135 cm3/m2/day, making it a substantially weaker O2 barrier.
