    ECO-FRIENDLY FLAME RETARDANTS MARKET

    INTRODUCTION ECO-FRIENDLY FLAME RETARDANTS MARKET

Flame retardants are substances or chemicals that are used to lessen the flammability of various goods and materials. Traditional flame retardants may be hazardous to the environment and human health, which has generated concerns. As a result, there is an increasing interest in creating eco-friendly flame retardants that are less hazardous to both the environment and human health.

These flame retardants are made from sustainable resources like plant-based compounds. Examples include flame retardants made of starch, tannin, and bio-based polyols. Because they can lessen dependency on petrochemical-derived flame retardants and encourage sustainability, bio-based flame retardants are appealing.

ECO-FRIENDLY FLAME RETARDANTS MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Avient Corporation has introduced a new line of halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) grades made from recycled and bio-based resin, expanding the portfolios of its reSound BIO bio-based and reSound REC recycled content Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) products.

These new grades were created in response to the rising demand for consumer electronics applications like cable jackets for USB-C connectors that are constructed using environmentally friendly raw materials and strictly adhere to FR compliance.

To improve the sustainability of their operations and goods, as well as to satisfy growing customer demand, brands and manufacturers of consumer electronic products are increasingly looking for material solutions.

With a new product line of flame-retardant TPEs that incorporate post-consumer recycled (PCR) or bio-based content, they are  providing added value for consumers in the USB-C cable market, in order to meet those needs. As a result, the product carbon footprint (CPF) is reduced by 15% to 25% compared to the market’s traditional virgin solutions.

In addition to utilising the confirmed halogen-free technology present in all flame-retardant reSound TPEs, Avient’s new low-PCF HFFR formulations feature two reSound BIO grades with up to 45% bio-based content and one reSound REC FR grade with up to 30% PCR content. The brand-new HFFR grades also have great extrusion moulding processability and good ultraviolet (UV) resistance performance.
