    AUSTRALIA HVAC HEAT PUMP MARKET

    INTRODUCTION

A heat pump uses technology similar to that of an air conditioner or refrigerator. It absorbs heat from a source, such as the atmosphere surrounding it, geothermal energy found deep underground, nearby water sources, or industrial waste heat.

The heat is then increased and distributed as necessary after that.A heat pump is one element of an HVAC system. Heat pumps could push frigid air outside to keep your area warm or circulate warm air inside your home to keep it cool. In essence, they transmit heat from one place to another depending on how the thermostat is set.

    NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

DOE Announces New Heat Pump Technology for Cold Climate Homes The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced that American heat pump producer Lennox International has joined the Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump Technology Challenge as its first partner in an effort to create a new generation of electric heat pumps that are more efficient than current models at heating homes in arctic climates.

Heat pumps for cold climates can provide high-efficiency heating in subfreezing conditions without emitting greenhouse gas emissions and can save families up to $500 annually on electricity costs.

With domestically produced CCHPS, this accomplishment represents a significant step towards providing millions of American families with dependable clean heating and cooling, which is essential to lowering energy prices and realising President Biden’s energy efficiency goals.

Over 40% of the primary energy utilised in American homes and businesses goes towards space conditioning and water heating, which are responsible for 46% of building emissions. Additionally, they are responsible for 56% of household energy expenditures and 42% of all building energy bills each year.

The DOE created the CCHP Technology Challenge in 2021 to assist American research and industry and to speed up the development and commercialization of next-generation heat pumps.

The first prototype that met the requirements of the Technology Challenge was created by Lennox International, with its main office in Richardson, Texas, roughly a year earlier than expected.

The prototype heats up to 100% at 5°F with a doubled efficiency and between 70% and 80% at -5°F and -10°F. The effectiveness and efficacy of Lennox’s prototype were verified by DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
