    NIGERIA AUTOMATED GUIDED VEHICLE MARKET

    INTRODUCTION

A portable robot called an automated guided vehicle (AGV), which differs from an autonomous mobile robot (AMR), follows along defined long lines or cables on the ground or navigates using radio waves, cameras with built-in vision, magnets, or lasers.

They are most frequently employed in industrial settings to move big objects throughout a sizable industrial structure, like a factory or warehouse.

The AGV can pull heavy loads behind them on trailers that they can independently attach to. The trailers can be used to transport both finished goods and raw materials.

Objects on a bed can also be stored by the AGV. The items can be loaded onto a conveyor, a collection of powered rollers, and then moved off of it by rotating the conveyor backwards.

Almost all industries, including pulp, paper, metallurgy, newspaper, and general manufacturing, use AGVs. In hospitals, it is also necessary to transport supplies like food, linens, and medications.

    NEW LAUNCH

The bidirectional BigBuddy, one of the most reliable AGVs in the market that uses magnetic tape to move loads up to 5,000 pounds, was unveiled by ResGreen Group International, Inc., a company that develops next-generation mobile robots and software solutions. BigBuddy was designed for high-maneuver requirements in crowded warehouses as well as harsh industrial settings.

BigBuddy has two separate drive motors that allow for zero-point turning. Unloaded, it moves straight ahead at up to 1.7 m/s. When designing BigBuddy AGV, ResGreen engineers prioritized safety above all else. The vehicle is equipped with two 16-zone LiDAR lasers in its front and rear. LiFePO4 batteries, which do not overheat or catch fire, are used in it.

ResGreen is a leading supplier of automated material handling solutions, encompassing industrial automation devices, autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and interoperable software.

The foundations of Industry 4.0 and 5.0, as well as ResGreen’s products, are connectivity and collaboration. ResGreen’s team of skilled engineers designs technologies that interface with a broad range of automated equipment, electronic components, and software systems using the Internet of Things (IoT), Robot Operating System (ROS), and MQTT protocol.

    RECENT DEVELOPMENT

The next model in the company’s S-CART series of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) will ship with a “Follow-Me” feature, according to a statement from Nidec-Shimpo Corporation.

The business has additionally created a different new model with a “Return-To-Home” feature and a model with a 500 kg maximum payload capacity. Based on Nidec-guided Shimpo’s “S-CART” autonomous guided vehicle, the new model will be released soon.

It has been updated with the ability to track and follow an object or person. On the other hand, the recently created S-CART model with the “Return-To-Home” feature can automatically create a path that leads to and from a specified “home” location.

The AGV can now detect objects five meters in front of and to the sides of it thanks to upgraded obstacle detection sensors. Previous iterations were limited to detecting objects directly in front of and behind the AGV for up to one meter. For detecting objects behind the AGV, the 1-meter sensing limit is still in effect.

The control application has undergone a comprehensive redesign, producing a better, more user-friendly layout. The tablet’s signal strength has also been boosted.

A new S-CART model created by Nidec-Shimpo can create a path automatically and return to a predetermined “home” location at the same time. By year’s end, the company hopes to introduce this new model.
