US AUTOMOTIVE REFRIGERANT MARKET

INTRODUCTION

Heat is transferred to the environment from the passenger compartment during the refrigeration cycle. A refrigerator is an illustration of such a system because it dissipates heat from its interior into the surrounding environment.

When refrigerant gas vapor from the evaporator enters the gas compressor in the engine bay, typically an axial piston pump compressor, it is compressed to a higher pressure and also reaches a higher temperature. Along with carrying the compressor lubricant oil across the system with it.

The hot, compressed vapor of refrigerant is now at a temperature and pressure that allow it to be condensed, so it goes through a condenser, which is typically located in front of the radiator of the vehicle. The refrigerant is cooled and condensed into a liquid here by air flowing across the condenser coils.

This air can come from the vehicle's movement or from a fan, often the same fan that is mounted on the cooling radiator and automatically turns on when the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speeds.

After passing through the receiver-drier, a one-way desiccant and filter cartridge that both dehydrates the refrigerant and compressor lubricant oil mixture to remove any residual water content (which would become ice inside the expansion valve and thereby clog it) that the vacuum performed prior to the charging process did not manage to remove from the system and filters it to remove any solid particles carried by the mixture, it also serves as a storage vessel for any excess liquid refrigerant during low cooling demand.

NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Solstice yf refrigerant, a near-drop-in replacement for Honeywell's R134a, is a new tool that automakers around the world can use to comply with these environmental regulations. It is an easy change that the industry can make with very little system modification, saving time, money, and having less of an impact on the environment in the future.

It is simple to incorporate Solstice yf into vehicle systems. Redesign is not required at all. After switching to Solstice yf, the costs of AC system hardware frequently remain the same.Because of its performance characteristics, Solstice yf refrigerant is well-suited to comply with worldwide regulations now and in the future.

As a result, automakers benefit from a single global solution for their supply chains. By allowing automakers to receive tailpipe credits in exchange for transitioning prior to any refrigerant-specific use regulations, Solstice yf can assist automobile manufacturers in some regions in meeting stringent future fuel mileage regulations.

A portion of the liquid refrigerant evaporates quickly as a result of that reduction in pressure, lowering its temperature. The cold refrigerant is then directed through the passenger compartment's evaporator coil. The components that are used in air conditioning systems that use Solstice yf refrigerant are either the same or very close to what is used in HFC-134a systems today.
